The Central Cube was never my assignment during two years of work on SKP Chengdu project. Yet it truly is a remarkable site. The Central Cube is a centrepiece in the space and it is the first thing you notice when descending the central stairs to SKP. It looks stunning and int=spires awe any time of the day and both from ground level and from beneath. The aerial views, although not something visible to most, are equally impressive.
The cube consists of a central steel structure with a fully glazed facade. It features a nine-by-nine meter skylight situated between four main structural columns. It provides light and access to the shopping levels below ground and contains a square internal bamboo garden on the lower level. At night, it creates a "beautiful glow" with animated, water-washed lighting, aiding in both navigation and atmosphere.
