Well-known for the giant pandas and Sichuan cuisine Chengdu city is emerging as a forward-thinking example of urban planning, driven in part by the ambitious Tianfu Greenway initiative. At the center of this vision is a 100-kilometre cycling loop — often referred to as the Green Belt — that weaves through parks and key cultural destinations across the city. It plays a significant role in a much bigger plan to turn Chengdu into a “Park City”. By 2040 the city is planned to be connected with a giant web of green corridors and parks. Not only it is a stunning project with numerous amazing views along the way, but it is also isolated from the city traffic thanks to its many bridges and tunnels connecting the Green Belt cycling paths. Although I have tried to capture the most prominent landmarks and give the idea and feeling of the project, the time was definitely not enough to photograph all its wonders.
